Short selling is back.
As the bull market turned the corner on its ninth birthday, most of Wall Street rejoiced at enormous gains. But one group was left sitting on their hands as others cheered: short sellers.
With even idiosyncratic bad calls capitalizing on broad-based stock market gains, there wasn’t as much money to be made in selling short. But with volatility returning to stocks some and skepticism eking back in, short sellers could soon be back in business.
