The Chinese may need to stimulate their economy but the US economy is booming despite Fed tightening. That, along with the ability to find buyers and laborers outside of China are a few of the reasons the US currently holds the upper hand in the ongoing conflict. But with President Trump more focused on longer-term fair trade than near-term corporate profits, we could still be in for a bumpy road ahead.
Nike’s bet on Colin Kaepernick appears to be paying off, FedEx is benefiting from solid eCommerce trends. Walmart looks good down here – but don’t forget that, while their sales may be US based, their supply chain has China exposure. Bottom line, these names paint the picture of a very strong US economy.
