The Democratic Party began its national convention with a hero’s welcome expected for President Biden, who ceded his candidacy for re-election to Vice President Kamala Harris. The four-day event will be capped off with Harris accepting her party’s nomination on Thursday evening. Former President Trump and Sen. JD Vance began a swing through battleground states.
Thousands of protesters demonstrated outside the Democratic Convention in Chicago, most of them calling for an end to Israel-Hamas war. Some 270 organizations, many demanding a cease-fire in Gaza, will demonstrate during the four days of the convention.
