GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Thousands of people poured Saturday into West Michigan to show their support for Donald Trump.
Photos and video captured by MLive showed lines that stretched over 1.5 miles as many hoped to see a glimpse of the Republican nominee for president.
Two hours after the doors opened, the line to get in stretched more than 16 blocks.
The Grand Rapids campaign event marked the first rally by former President Trump since a gunman nearly killed him a week earlier, on July 13 in Pennsylvania.

A bullet injured the former president’s ear at an outdoor rally.

About 12,000 people filled Van Andel Arena on July 20, when Trump delivered a 115-minute speech, and U.S. Sen. JD Vance, his recently-announced running mate, participated in his first campaign event with the ex-president.
