Authorities say Marta Elizeth Serrano-Alvarado, 46, and her daughter, Martha Jessenia Gutierrez-Serrano, 28, were arrested and face charges after falsifying a birth certificate that listed Gutierrez-Serrano as a 17-year-old and enrolling her as a student at Hahnville High School in an attempt to learn English.
