Universal Music Group and Supersocial unveiled Beat Galaxy, which is a music hub inside the virtual world of Roblox.
Dubbed, a musical journey in the metaverse, Beat Galaxy is a collaboration that aims to create a music-centric virtual world, offering users an immersive space dedicated to music discovery, interaction, and gameplay. Supersocial is making the game.
Beat Galaxy is a social space that lets fans interact with music. It has a dynamic environment for discovery and connection. Designed as a musical hub, it hosts a range of features, including a 24/7 virtual club, artist takeovers, and interactive spaces showcasing UMG artists.
Michael Nash, chief digital officer at Universal Music Group, said in a statement that he was excited about the innovative potential of Beat Galaxy.
“Beat Galaxy represents a dynamic step forward in entertainment innovation, allowing us to change the way that music fans, artists, and labels interact with one another,” Nash said. “It’s a living, breathing music experience, and we believe we’ve created the go-to music getaway on Roblox.”
A music discovery platform
Beat Galaxy offers an extensive catalog of officially licensed songs from UMG’s collection on Roblox, spanning various genres such as EDM, Pop, Rock, and Urban. The experience introduces “track runner” style rhythm gameplay, allowing multiple players to engage simultaneously in real-time gameplay while socializing and immersing themselves in the music.

Beat Galaxy creates a next-generation music discovery experience on Roblox that not only provides a fun social gameplay but also creates true utility for music discovery beyond the algorithm in a community-driven way that’s never been done before.”
Beyond being a rhythm game and music discovery hub, Beat Galaxy plans to host live concerts and themed pop-up shops within the experience. Moreover, it aims to integrate other virtual UMG worlds and experiences on Roblox via in-experience portals, creating an interconnected UMG galaxy.
