TEL AVIV — Secretary of State Antony Blinken traveled to Ramallah on Sunday to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, marking the highest-level visit by a U.S. official to the West Bank since Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack. The trip came amid discussions about the future of Gaza, which has been ruled by Hamas since 2007. Blinken previously said that a “revitalized” Palestinian Authority should administer Gaza once the fighting stops, but many Palestinians have long seen the group as out of touch and irrelevant. Abbas, in his meeting with Blinken on Sunday, indicated willingness to help administer Gaza if Hamas is deposed, a senior State Department official said. Meanwhile, Gaza was experiencing a “complete disruption” in internet and communication services Sunday, according to Paltel, the main Palestinian telecom provider. It was not immediately clear what had caused the disruption.
