With the Philadelphia Phillies leading the NLCS 3-2 heading into Game 6, it was last-chance time for the Diamondbacks. To keep their season alive, they needed to find a way to win at every opponent’s nightmare stadium, Citizens Bank Park, where the Phillies are undefeated this postseason.
Well, the Diamondbacks jumped on Philly starter Aaron Nola early, with a pair of solo home runs, a walk and a double plating three runs before there was an out in the second inning.
The Phillies answered back in the bottom of the second, chipping into the deficit with an RBI single from Brandon Marsh that made it 3-1 Diamondbacks.
In the fifth, a single from Corbin Carroll and a triple from Ketel Marte got the run back for the Diamondbacks and ended Aaron Nola’s day at 4 1/3 innings, with six hits and four earned runs.
The D-backs plated another on singles from Perdomo and Marte in the seventh, making it 5-1 Diamondbacks.
Later, the all-Texas ALCS reaches its conclusion with a winner-take-all Game 7. The Texas Rangers tied the series against the Houston Astros with a 9-2 win Sunday at Minute Maid Park. The road team has won every game in this series. For Game 7, the Astros are sending Cristian Javier to the mound, while the Rangers will start veteran Max Scherzer.
