Sophie Turner was definitely not into the JoBros before she met her husband. “My friends and I were not Jonas Brothers fans … We hated them,” the actress told Elle for its April 2020 issue. But that all changed after he reached out on social media.

“We were following each other on Instagram and he direct messaged me one fine day, out of the blue,” she shared in her May 2019 cover story with Harper’s Bazaar U.K. Eventually, they met at a bar, where the musician won her over. “I expected him to show up with security and everything,” she told Elle. “I thought, ‘He’s gonna be such a d–k.’

“We talked for hours, and hours, and hours. And I was, like, not bored. It wasn’t contrived. It wasn’t small talk — it was just so easy,” she shared. “And soon we were, like, inseparable. I went on tour with him.”

The couple became Instagram official on New Year’s day when Turner posted a photo of the singer smoking a cigar while riding on a boat. “Miami Daze,” she captioned the snap.

It’s a furbaby! Turner announced in an Instagram post that she and Jonas had added a dog to their family. “Meet the newest addition to the krew @porkybasquiat 🐶,” she captioned the photo of the couple’s adorable pup, tagging the singer in the snapshot.

Cue the wedding bells! The couple announced in matching Instagram posts that they were engaged. “I said yes,” the actress captioned a photo of her hand on top of his, her stunning engagement ring on full display. His post simply noted, “She said yes.”

Long after they started dating, and after they got engaged, the couple finally made their red carpet debut at the Louis Vuitton Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Spring/Summer 2019 event. The pair coordinated in complementary black and silvery-gray looks.

The couple got matching Toy Story-inspired tattoos on their arms, artist Mr. K shared on his Instagram account. The singer had “To infinity” inked in spiral script on his arm, while the actress had the rest of the phrase, “& beyond” with a little rocket flying above the final word.

After a five-day celebration and two ceremonies held in India, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra tied the knot. Photos from the reception show Turner at Joe Jonas’ side in a sparkly peach and gold lehenga.

The Jonas Brothers made their official return to the charts with the single “Sucker” — which became their first (and so far only) No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Sophie, as well as the other two “J-Sisters” — Danielle Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas — starred in the music video alongside their significant others.

The couple walked the red carpet and Jonas later took the stage with his brothers to perform a medley of tracks, including Nick’s “Jealous,” DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean” and Jonas Brothers’ “Sucker.”

Following the Billboard Music Awards, the couple went to a Vegas chapel with friends and family in attendance to make it official. Diplo livestreamed the ceremony on Instagram as the two exchanged vows, with an Elvis impersonator as the officiant.

Jonas and Turner made sure they had an extravagant wedding as well in addition the Sin City ceremony. The pair tied the knot again at a chateau in Sarrians, in southern France.

Jonas and Turner welcomed their first child, a girl named Willa, in the summer of 2020. “Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are delighted to announce the birth of their baby,” the couple said in a statement to Billboard at the time. The couple kept things pretty quiet throughout the actress’ pregnancy, never offering a statement to confirm that they were expecting, though she was spotted out and about with a baby bump.

Jonas shared a sweet TikTok video marking the fifth anniversary of their first meeting. In the clip, the couple walk hand in hand, toast each other and enjoy a romantic dinner. “5 years knowing this one,” the musician captioned the video, ending with a fiery heart emoji. The cherry on top? The song playing during the clip is the JoBros’ song “Hesitate,” which Nick Jonas revealed in the band’s 2019 Billboard cover story that Joe had written for the actress.

The Game of Thrones star appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon while pregnant with her second child, around the time the couple was celebrating their third wedding anniversary. During the chat, the comedian asked Turner when she knew Jonas was the man for her. Turns out, it was basically immediately.

“The first night I met him, I remember, like, he left my apartment,” she recalled, saying that she and a bunch of their friends had met at a bar before heading to her place. “I wept to my brother. I was like, ‘I love this man so much!’ And I knew! And that was it!”

Jonas and Turner welcomed their second baby, another daughter, in the summer of 2022. “Joe and Sophie are happy to announce the arrival of their baby girl,” their reps told People at the time. The name of their younger daughter has yet be publicly announced.

The actress showed her support for her husband and the Jonas Brothers by attending the band’s Aug. 13 show at Yankee Stadium. In a series of photos posted to Instagram, the actress is holding and kissing Joe’s hand, and subtly teasing him with a snap of her friendship bracelets, one of which reads “Mr. Perfectly Fine” — the title of a Taylor Swift song that fans believe is about the musician, whom the pop superstar dated briefly in 2008.

Days after rumors of the couple’s impending split surfaced over Labor Day weekend, Joe filed for divorce in Florida’s Miami-Dade County on Tuesday (Sept. 5), Billboard confirmed. The singer said in court documents that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.”

The former couple addressed their split in a joint statement posted to their social media accounts.

“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” their statement began. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
