Japan’s GDP topped estimates but growth in Germany, France, and Italy is slowing. Cisco missed earnings on Wednesday on product problems and Walmart beat estimates by $0.01, but revenue was lower, causing the stock to sink. Kohl’s also missed estimates and cut revenue, sending the stock down 9%. The big news of the day is the confirmation of Federal Reserve presidential candidate Janet Yellen to send her to the senate for approval. The differentiating factor between Yellen and Bernanke is banking regulations, says Robbert Van Batenburg of Newedge. TheStreet’s Debra Borchardt reports in New York.
