Former Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Alan Blinder has attracted attention for his ideas on how to get America’s banks to lend again, but few realize the Princeton University economist has been a banker of sorts for over a decade. Blinder says the firm he co-founded, Promontory Interfinancial Network, is trying to get banks to increase their lending. Promontory spent 2013 building Bank Assetpoint, an eBay-like platform for financial institutions to buy and sell assets such as commercial real estate and consumer loans. The business now counts over 4,000 members, including 1,200 banks.
