Yelp is not just having a great stock market run, says Emanuel Rosen, author of “Absolute Value”, the review site is also changing the restaurant landscape by making smaller, independent operations more competitive against the major chains. Consumers now have more information to make a decision about whether or not to dine at a restaurant due to sites like Yelp and this is bolstering the business of mom and pop operations like never before. And as more reviewers offer their opinions, it eliminates the risk of a restaurant owner manipulating the results.
