LBO shops should be eager to see Carl Icahn put the screws to online sales king eBay. If he’s successful in his activist campaign, it could bring an asset to the block that private equity firms would covet. If eBay sells PayPal, like it did Skype, PE firms seemingly have a clear pathway to making an operations turnaround for the payment processor like they did last time, before Microsoft made a mint for all parties backing Skype.
