Escalating pro and anti-government protests coupled with a deteriorating economic situation in Venezuela are creating a ‘perfect storm,’ according to IHS’ Diego Moya-Campos. Moya-Campos says the death of President Hugo Chavez, a year ago, created a political power vacuum and the situation, both economically and politically, will likely worsen over the next two years before it improves. The economic deterioration will also continue to make it challenging for multinationals doing business there.
