General Motors is being accused of ignoring an ignition switch defect that’s linked to 13 deaths for a decade, according to a memo released by a House subcommittee. The subcommittee is investigating GM’s recall of 2.6 million Chevy Cobalts and other cars due to an ignition switch defect that’s said to cause vehicles to stall and disables the air bags and power steering. GM CEO Mary Barra will testify before the subcommittee on Tuesday and participate in a Senate hearing on Wednesday.
