The market hates uncertainty and with Anadarko making one big settlement to cover all pollution issues, it has removed that question. Investors don’t seemed concerned that the settlement is over $5 billion, and they are satisfied that all the problems of the past are now rolled into one big payoff. The stock responded quickly after hearing the news and immediately moved higher. Anadarko had already paid BP a settlement for its part in the Deepwater Horizon spill.
