Fracking is as safe as an industrial activity can get, says Russell Gold, author of “The Boom”. Gold says his parents leased their family farm to frackers because the majority of their neighbors had already done so, creating a domino effect. Gold says the land grab is close to over because the shale deposits have been discovered, yet the fracking revolution is still young and could go on for decades. Finally, he says natural gas is a safer energy source than coal, yet the greenhouse gas worries remain real.
