Nicole Sherrod, Managing Director of the Trading Group at TD Ameritrade, reviews monthly Daily Average Revenue Trades (DARTs) metrics and the latest data from the Investor Movement Index (IMX). April 2014 DARTs data shows a decline in trading activity month-over-month for TD Ameritrade clients, but are up 17% from April 2013. Sherrod explains the data is in line with market conditions as investors rotate out of momentum stocks into larger-cap, dividend paying names. She points out the retail investor is no longer an anecdotal sign of the top and bottom as trading tools and educational platforms make the homegamer more sophisticated.
