After some disappointing economic numbers and missed earnings reports from retailers, stocks began selling on Thursday. Ben Willis of Princeton Securities notes that this follows from yesterday’s report of mutual fund flows out of equities and into bond funds. Ten year treasury yields have also broken below 2.5%. Selling is across the board and volumes are strong as investors jump ship. Walmart earnings were lower than last year and guidance wasn’t much better. This worries investors that the consumer is not going to come back strongly after the winter and retailers are weak.
