Hillshire Brands, the company behind Jimmy Dean sausages and Ball Park hot dogs, said Monday it will pay $4.2 billion to buy Pinnacle Foods, home of Vlasic pickles and Aunt Jemima syrup, to broaden its product lines. Meanwhile, Coca Cola and Keurig Green Mountain got a little bit closer Tuesday after Coke doubled its stake in the coffee brewer to 16%. The pair are working together on the Keurig Cold single-cup beverage system which it hopes to sell later this year. Finally, a post-war and contemporary art sale at Christie’s this week generated sales of $744M – the highest total in art auction history – with many pieces smashing their estimated values.
