So many retailers whined about woeful winter weather in disappointing first quarter earnings reports — turns out, the culprit was J.C. Penney all along. The retailer reported a huge earnings beat, that might account for many of its smaller competitors’ underperformance, and shares are soaring before the open. They’re not alone: Nordstrom’s beat also has the stock up going into the open today. And Jim Cramer is ready to bet a little bit bigger on a tech company he says is poised for takeoff.
