Nordstrom has time and again been pointed to as an LBO candidate, and with a $8.7 billion deal to buy PetSmart, market watchers will next turn to the high-end retailer for potential gains, and news. Already, Nordstrom has made both: posting gains of 20 percent this year, and making digital deals to bolster its presence online. This includes an investment in Bonobos, and a partnership with eBay that brings in a digital display for dressing rooms that could alter the consumer experience. With a $14 billion dollar market cap, Nordstrom could next look like a bargain — to private buyers.
