After nearly a decade of development and redesign, Airbus has finally delivered its first A350 XWB jet to Qatar Airways at a delivery ceremony Monday at Airbus’ headquarters in Toulouse, France. The project, which began in 2006, faced years of delays and required a multi-billion dollar redesign, however the new A350 design will make the jet more fuel-efficient and marketable to other airlines. The two new Rolls Royce Brent XWB engines on each jet will emit 25% less CO2 emissions than the existing aircraft of a similar size. Qatar Airlines plans to buy 80 new jets and introduce the first eight by the end of 2015. Whalen MacHale reports for TheStreet from New York.
