Family Dollar, which is in the middle of a takeover battle, posted a sharp 47% decline in first quarter profits Thursday. TheStreet’s Jim Cramer says Dollar General is a buy because the company will either be successful in it’s takeover bid of Family Dollar or Dollar General will simply do better on its own. Dollar General stock was down on Thursday and Cramer says that’s a big mistake. All retailers are benefitting and Dollar General should be higher, right up there with Target, Walmart and Urban Outfitters. Cramer advises investors to buy Dollar General off of Family Dollar’s weak quarterly numbers. Family Dollar says a change in pricing strategy squeezed its margins.
