With winter storms like Juno and Linus batting down on the Midwest and Northeast, expected to be followed by extremely bitter temperatures, RealMoney Pro contributor Chris Versace recommends insulating your portfolio with utility stocks. Harsh winter weather will have people reaching to turn up their thermostats, meaning companies like Exelon Corp. and Con Edison should benefit. He also likes the Utilities SPD, which is a more diversified play. Also, as the sharp drops in temperature will likely boost natural gas demand, Versace says shares of United States Natural Gas Fund could be a quick trade this week. However, as the winter storms have caused many flight cancellations and delays, Versace warns one group to stay away from is the airlines.
