Luxury retailers are finally grasping that an online sales presence is just as important, if not more so, than their traditional bricks and mortar stores. DEPARTURES Magazine Publisher Steven DeLuca explains that online luxury retail accounts for only 11 percent of the sector’s sales. That compares to roughly 16 percent for the overall industry, according to the National Retail Federation. DEPARTURES latest Global Luxury CEO survey found that chief executives expect online sales to ‘increase significantly in 2015.’ Overall, the survey found that global sales in the luxury sector are expected to increase by 11 percent in 2015.
