2015 may well be the year that restaurants across the country put guests in control of their own dining experience by allowing them to place orders and pay their checks via tablets and place orders before they get to the counter. Ziosk’s CEO Austen Mulinder said, ‘Restaurants believe the better experience they can provide, the more regularly that guest is going to come back.’ Ziosk is the first pay at the table tablet for the casual dining market. Right now, it’s testing with Olive Garden and Red Robin. It’s already in the Chili’s chain. More food chains are realizing that if a customer can order food before they get to the counter the entire experience becomes much more efficient. Olo is a back-end platform that works on a restaurant’s mobile app or website. Olo works with Five Guys, Noodles and Dickey’s BBQ and Chipotle. TheStreet’s Ruben Ramirez has details from New Jersey.
