Rising earnings will help stocks overcome the headwind of the strong dollar this year, said Eric Wiegand, Senior Portfolio Manager for U.S. Bank Wealth Management. Wiegand added that he is constructive on technology stocks despite their large overseas business. He is also positive on the consumer discretionary sector because lower oil is increasing the confidence of American consumers. Wiegand said he is going to continue to be underweight energy shares, but is warming up to financials and industrials. Finally, Wiegand said he expects the Federal Reserve to raise rates in June but it will not undermine investor confidence.
