Elon Musk succeeded in building Tesla not simply due to his smarts, but because he ‘failed wisely,’ said Amy Wilkinson, author of ‘The Creator’s Code.’ Wilkinson added that extreme perseverance is a trait shared by the hundreds of the entrepreneurs she interviewed for her book. She said intelligence is an important factor in building a company, yet is by far not a prerequisite to building a $100 million business, adding that investors should ‘bet on the jockey and not the horse’. As for the next great entrepreneur, Wilkinson points to Elizabeth Holmes, Elizabeth Holmes, the CEO of Theranos, a Silicon Valley company that is poised to upend the business of blood.
