The release of Apple’s new 12.9-inch iPad is reportedly being delayed from the first quarter of this year to the second half, as the company faces panel supply issues. Colin Gillis, director of research at BGC Partners, says when you consider the rapid deceleration in growth in the overall tablet market, it’s a positive move on Apple’s part to try to reinvigorate its iPad line with a larger model. Gillis says the delay is not too concerning as Apple never specified an official release date for the new iPad in the first place, and supply issues happen from time to time. Gillis also previews Apple’s March quarter and his outlook on the company for the rest of the year.
