Google announced Tuesday that Ruth Porat, chief financial officer at Morgan Stanley, will join its management team as CFO. So who is Ruth Porat? She joined Morgan Stanley in 1987, where she’s also served as Vice Chairman of Investment Banking, Global Head of the Financial Institutions Group and co-Head of Technology Investment Banking. During the financial crisis, she led the Morgan Stanley teams advising the U.S. Treasury on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the New York Federal Reserve Bank on AIG. According to Google, Porat has been the lead banker on technology financing rounds for the likes of Amazon, eBay, Priceline and General Electric, among others. Shares of Google were rising on the news.
