A survey by Convergex finds 60% of buy-side investors still think the market is unfair, nearly a year after Michael Lewis’ book ‘Flash Boys’ raised concerns about market fairness and the effects of high frequency trading. Despite that, Convergex President and CEO Eric Noll says the survey finds there is growing confidence that markets are capable of handling any shocks and most participants do not see the need for further regulation. Noll, a member of the SEC advisory panel on market reform, also says the issue of ‘maker-taker’ pricing is coming to the forefront and he expects the SEC panel will tackle that issue soon.
