Universal Pictures “Fast and the Furious 7” is on track to cross a billion in sales and that helps parent company Comcast. Furious 7 scored one of the biggest movie opening weekends of history by bringing in $143 million dollars. The film franchise is also unique in that it had humble beginnings and isn’t tied to a comic book character, toy or young adult novel. Fast and the Furious is also notable for its diverse fan base. 37% of moviegoers at the screenings were Hispanic, according to exit polling and reported in the Wall Street Journal. 25 percent were white. 24 percent were African-American.
