Interest in hedged Euro exchange traded funds has surged as the European currency has declined, but investors need to know the fund’s holdings, said Todd Rosenbluth, Director of ETF Research at S&P Capital IQ. Rosenbluth added that the WisdomTree Europe Hedged Equity ETF (HEDJ), for example, has significant holdings in consumer staples stocks like Anheuser-Busch InBev which S&P Capital’s analyst says are fully valued. Rosenbluth said he is more favorable to the iShares Currency Hedged MSCI EMU (HEZU) because it follows an index which holds more financials which S&P Capital IQ views more favorably.
