Akamai delivered strong first quarter results despite foreign currency headwinds and is seeing huge gains in its security business in the wake of repeated system attacks, said the company’s CEO Tom Leighton. Akamai delivered non-GAAP net income of $111 million in Q1, up 6% year-over-year, or $0.61 per diluted share. Revenue for the first quarter of 2015 was $527 million, a 16% jump over Q1 2014 revenue of $454 million. Leighton added that the company’s security business was up over 80% in the first 3 months of the year as corporations seek to defend their systems against computer hackers.
