With valuations high for healthy snack companies, SkinnyPop couldn’t refuse to get back on the auction block. Which it did, sources tell The Deal’s Richard Collings, by hiring Goldman Sachs. Hiring a financial adviser came only eight months after the Chicago-based snack company got an investment from private equity firm TA Associates that valued it at three times its revenue or more than $150 million. TA Associates is projected to do well if SkinnyPop sells, Collings reports, with a likely return of two times on its equity. More companies in the sector are up for sale and valuations are expected to remain healthy.
