Human beings are ultimately behind corporate hackings, so cyber-security firms need to employ the best trained people to beat them at their own game, said Joseph Grano, CEO of Root9B Technologies. Grano, a former Green Beret, added that root9B differentiates itself from other cybersecurity companies because its employees are nearly all ex-NSA and military. Furthermore, Grano said root9B employs an active strategy, placing a human defender against a human adversary, supported by both automated and active capabilities to hunt hackers within proprietary networks. Finally, Grano said corporations are only about 40% protected despite well-known breaches at Target and Sony.
