Schools are not teaching kids about the value of money and even parents in the industry are not educating their kids about investing, said David Bianchi, author of ‘Blue Chip Kids.’ Bianchi added that he originally wrote the book for his 12 year old son to teach him the basics of finance. He said the toughest concepts for his son to grasp were puts, calls and P/E ratios, yet after a short while the concepts sunk in. Bianchi said parents should read the book with their kids to answer questions instead of assigning it like homework. Finally, Bianchi said Wall Street has created a language of its own, but once translated even a junior high student can understand it.
