The S&P 500 rallied to a new record close, beating the highs set last month. Computer Sciences (CSC) was the best performer on the S&P 500. Shares surged in the afternoon session on reports the company plans to split into two. Kohl’s (KSS) was the worst performer after quarterly sales missed estimates. Avon Products (AVP) was an interesting mover, gaining on a bizarre hoax in which the company received a very generous bid from PTG Capital Partners. Apple (AAPL) was one of the best performers on the Dow. The world’s largest company joined in on a rally among high-momentum tech stocks which also included Microsoft (MSFT) and Amazon (AMZN).
